Dedication of the SIRTF Science Center
October 2001:
The dedication of the SIRTF Science Center (SSC) at the California
Institute of Technology in Pasadena was held on October 22, 2001.
Cutting the ceremonial ribbon at the conclusion of the dedication
ceremonies were (left to right): JPL Director Charles Elachi, SSC
Director Tom Soifer, Caltech President David Baltimore, and NASA
Associate Administrator for Space Science Ed Weiler. The dedication was
followed by a reception and open house, with demonstrations, exhibits,
and tours. The SSC is responsible for SIRTF science operations and
serves as the primary interface between the Observatory and the science
research community.
