Space Infrared Telescope Facility Lifts Off

NASA's Space Infrared Telescope Facility successfully launched from Florida's Cape Canaveral Air Force Station aboard a Delta II launch vehicle. The space telescope will use infrared detectors to pierce the dusty darkness enshrouding many of the universe's most fascinating objects.

The Spitzer Space Telescope is a NASA mission managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This website is maintained by the Spitzer Science Center, located on the campus of the California Institute of Technology and part of NASA's Infrared Processing and Analysis Center.
